Bill Grandy
Head of the VAF Historical Swordsmanship Program
"Coach Bill" has taught historical and sport fencing at VAF since 2001. A lifelong sword enthusiast, fencer, and martial artist, Bill brings a wide knowledge of different martial arts styles to his teaching of historical European swordfighting. He has studied with some of the world's premier historical fencers and is currently working closely with historical fencing scholars around the country in interpreting period swordfighting manuscripts. Bill also writes about swords and swordfighting, and is a frequent contributor of articles and reviews to MyArmoury.com.
Pamela Muir
"Coach Pamela" has been with VAF since 2002 and has taught beginning and intermediate Historical Swordsmanship classes since 2005. Trained by the fencing master as well as the head of the Historical Swordsmanship program, she has extensive experience both in sport and historical fencing. Coach Pamela also brings to her coaching many years of experience as a teacher. A lifelong sword enthusiast, Pamela is a sword collector and contributes reviews to MyArmoury.com.
David Rowe
"Coach David" has been with VAF since 2000 and has tought historical swordsmanship since 2004. He was trained by the fencing master as well as the head of the Historical Swordsmanship program. He teaches beginning classes for both Historical Swordsmanship and the sport of fencing. Coach David is both a skilled swordsman as well as a skilled instructor. He has a love for historical arms and armor that he bring to his teachings.
Kelly Wynn
"Coach Kelly" began fencing in 1999 at James Madison University. In 2002, she continued her training at VAF under the Olympic Sport and Historical Swordsmanship programs. She has experience in foil, smallsword, the Italian and Spanish rapier, as well as German longsword. In addition, she has received training in modern knife and stick/baton fighting. Coach Kelly gives historical fencing demonstrations and teaches Olympic Sport and Historical Swordsmanship.
